 | This would have sounded much less experimental if i had recorded the last 3-4 tracks 5 hours earlier. I also wasn’t even bothering to pay attention modulating on the 1s would work or not. Nonetheless I did ensure interesting patches and tweaking of the FX knobs turned out right. Play it up against “Do You Like Music?” and undertones of stylistic affinities can be heard.

 | There are many things I could do that would probably improve this track. There are also many things that endow it with a distinct identity. Maybe I'll add some samples but it's just so damn cluttered....One thing is certain---a halfway decent outboard synth and some guitar pedals make for some annoyingly gorgeous sonic expressions.

 | The final installment of the "Repo Man" is some jazz noir informed psychedelic grooviness that will expand your consciousness and open up your ears. I used Logic to capture and mix the sounds--some generated by fingertips and others by Miles Davis--which is undoubtedly obvious to some. I may go in and add some single note guitar playing during the intro, bridge and end. If you enjoyed my song "Criminalz" than this is right up your alley.

 | Long title, long track. I captured about 7 layers of slide guitar, several beats I programmed, , some "ghostly noises"and recovered a disaster where I lost some pivotal parts halfway through. Even at 7 minutes I must say it does capture one's attention and inject your 3-d world with its jaded sonic atmosphere.

 | I composed the chord progression years ago and finally decided to try and capture it with a Bossa beat, bass line and single note self indulgence. The guitar delay is achieved with attempt at double tracking a take that was primarily improvised. So throughout the songs the guitars diverge and one can hear the difference between them. I used Abelton and Peak to edit this one a couple years ago.

 | This started out as an exercise so a student could learn the a ii-V-I progression as an intro to jazz theory. I ended up comping the chords, recording them then adding a bass line and lead all on my Alvarez acoustic. Months later, sometime in early 2004 I went in and added the beats.

 | This was recorded, mixed, and rendered in a relatively short session using only a Korg nanaoPad to input the sounds. Garageband captured the noises and Peak was used for specialized normalizing and tweaking of individual tracks. In order to dispel any theories before they occur---no stringed instruments were sampled or used directly in the making of "prescienceThief." Much like "De Ochtend van Inaguration" this song can be transformed live in a way that is satisfies both the listener and the performer. Until then, it fills space an aural texture that can conjure up feelings and memories that some listeners prefer to avoid.

 | I've hit a stumbling block in trying to find apropos tags for this one. By the end of the session I learned a new functions and procedures in Logic--ones that would have come in Handy 3-4 hours earlier. The samples are from one of the more discussed scenes in the movie. I may go back and add more rhythm guitar towards the end. The beats are combination of a pre-recorded loops and me tapping out beats that are intended to sound more human than mechanized.

 | The song that preceded the video--freed from the bulk of a signature beat or booming bass line impart a weightless, organic feel that allow t to stand alone. However while preparing for a performance and fighting the nods I was jolted out of complacency when I hit a few keys on the synth. I heard something wonderful--this song can adapt to steady beats, additional sonic layers and even a guitar--yes a guitar sans effects but one with a tasty tone that can explore it's way around "De Ochtend van Inaguration's" overall atmosphere and through it's musical nuances.
I have discovered that at my disposal is a compelling recording for the discriminating listener. Yet it also lends itself to transformation in live setting, breaking the barriers of studio and media confinement---a gift for the audience and creator.

 | This tracks is great for spacing out to--losing yourself in the atmosphere. Oddly, if I play beats along with it live they sound fantastic. I can't seem to capture the rhythms effectively but enjoy the philosophizing samples anyway.

 | This is SABC’s second attempt to record an entire song using much more sophisticated software and a brand new Mac Mini as recording device. Officially, this is an unfinished outtake. An Alesis micron crafted both the bridge and main beats. A combination of out board generated guitar effects saturated one of the only two non-percussive tracks. Feedback is appreciated--yeah I know I hit some sour notes.

 | Noir inspired track built around what at the time I decided was a constantly modulating bass line, The somewhat sharp, dissonant and angular single note guitar parts are a result of attempting jazz over a loop---it cannot adjust or allow for another player to improvise. Layers of synth patches were used to emulate horns--the configuration changes the second time around which alters the atmosphere just enough to heighten the emotional intensity.

 | The distinct intro and outro---a beatless, womb-like space are a separate song in and of itself. I think that in a live setting it will allow the song to flow more freely. The main part of the track was an attempt at dirty sounding house music with the slightly distorted organs and beats. The final product--if in fact it is the final product, escapes a tidy set of tags. Feel free to pinpoint the genre(s) if I am missing something obvious.
